About Winfield, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Winfield is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were about 9,600 people living in Winfield at the time of 2016 census. The village is part of the Chicagoland metropolitan area and is located about 35 miles west of downtown Chicago.
Like many Illinois villages, the first inhabitants were Native American Indians. In 1845, a land grant was given to James P. Doe and almost 10 years later he platted the land as the Town of Fredericksburg. Although the land was platted under the name Fredericksburg, it appeared on railroad maps as Winfield. It is said that the name was taken from General Winfield Scott who served in the Civil War. German-speaking farmers inhabited the area until the 1920s and suburban growth came once toll roads were constructed in the latter half of the 20th century. Today, Winfield is home to quiet neighborhoods and thriving business districts. The village is home to community groups, places of worship, community events, parks, and much more. In Winfield, there is something for every taste and type of interest.
Winfield is located in a climate that experiences four distinct seasons. Temperatures begin to cool in early autumn and turn warm towards late spring. The months of December, January, and February experience daytime temperatures that average in the low and mid-30s. At night, temperatures dip well below freezing. In addition to cool temperatures, snowfall is common during the winter season. Residents of Winfield find it necessary to have heating systems like heat pumps installed in their homes. These systems help residents remain warm and comfortable inside their homes when temperatures turn cool. During the summer season, daytime highs average in the low-80s. However, it is not uncommon for temperatures to rise to the low-90s. Both cooling and heating systems help Winfield residents stay comfortable inside their homes throughout the varying seasons.
