Glen Ellyn is a beautiful village positioned in DuPage County, Illinois. The village is part of the Chicagoland metropolitan area and is located about 27 miles west of downtown Chicago. At the time of the 2016 census, there were approximately 28,042 people living in Glen Ellyn.

European settlers arrived in Glen Ellyn from New York in the 1830s. These individuals decided to settle in Glen Ellyn due to the close proximity of the DuPage River to the area and the abundance of Oak trees which were used to build cabins. Like many Illinois villages, more settlers began moving into the area once a rail station was built nearby. Individuals began building homes and local businesses served their needs. By the 1890s, the community had experienced significant growth. Residents petitioned to building a lake recreational use and eventually a lake named Glen Ellyn was formed. The lake became so popular that residents petitioned the name of the community to be changed to Glen Ellyn. Today, the beautiful lake still exists and Glen Ellyn has become one of the most popular suburbs in the Chicagoland area. Local businesses and beautiful neighborhoods occupy the streets of modern-day Glen Ellyn. Residents are provided with various recreational opportunities and easy access to downtown Chicago. Weather in Glen Ellyn is characterized by extremely cool winters and warm summers. Daytime temperatures throughout the months of December, January, and February vary from the low to mid-30s on average. At night, temperatures will dip well below freezing. During the summer months, temperatures will climb to the low-90s but average in the mid-80s during the daytime. Residents find it necessary to have heating and cooling systems installed in their homes. These systems help individuals stay comfortable inside their homes when extreme temperatures are present in the area.
