Bartlett is a large village located in northern Illinois. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were about 41,000 people living in Bartlett in 2016. The village is positioned mostly in Cook and DuPage counties but some of the village stretches into Kane County. Bartlett is considered a suburb of Chicago and is located about 35 miles west of downtown Chicago.
Before European settlers arrived, the area where Bartlett is located was used as camping and hunting grounds by the Potawatomi, Ottawa, Miami, and Cherokee Indians. In 1843, Luther Bartlett arrived in Illinois from Conway, Massachusetts. Luther and his family used the original townsite as a source for lumber. In the 1870s, the Chicago & Pacific Railroad built a train station on a 40-acre woodlot that was donated by Luther and his family. The station gave new life to the village and in 1891 Bartlett became incorporated.
Individuals who visit modern-day Bartlett will discover the village has maintained its small-town atmosphere while providing residents the conveniences of modern-day amenities. Individuals are encouraged to explore downtown where the village municipal complex, historic Depot Museum, Metra commuter station, Chamber of Commerce, and the Arts in Bartlett Center for the Arts are located. In addition to being home to many attractions, Bartlett is known as a family-friendly residential community where there is something for every preference and type of interest.
Bartlett is located in a climate that experiences very cool winters and warm summers. Throughout the months of December, January, and February, daytime temperatures average in the low and mid-30s.
